I purchased this site for a couple of hundred dollars from flippa.com while I was playing around with the idea of buying and selling websites quickly in order to turn a small profit.

The screenshot below gives an idea of how the site looked when originally purchased.

As can be readily seen from the screenshot, originally the site was simply a wrapper around a simple script that searches for misspellings on the various eBay sites around the world. Behind the scenes it was written in PHP and had a number of glaring problems when it came to storage of personal data.

So, even though the original idea was to quickly ‘flip’ the site for a profit, it was in a state where I felt unable to sell it on.

I have some vague ideas around repurposing the domain and creating a useful tool for not just eBay sellers, but other platforms such as Amazon Marketplace and perhaps Etsy.

Current possibilities are:

  • An improved search tool for misspelled items
  • A stock management tool that keeps stock levels in sync across platforms
  • A tool to help locate worthwhile wholesale stock for resale

I’m also open offers from anyone who has a burning desire to buy the zerobids.com domain, as this project is currently some way down my to-do list!
